What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the Australian Government's initiative to provide funding and support for people with permanent and significant disability. It's designed to help you achieve your goals and live independently by providing reasonable and necessary supports.

Your NDIS Journey

Understanding the process from application to plan implementation

1

Access Request

Contact the NDIS to request access. You'll need to provide evidence of your disability from medical professionals. The NDIS will assess if you meet the eligibility criteria.

2

Planning Meeting

Once approved, you'll meet with an NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator to discuss your goals, current supports, and what reasonable and necessary supports you need.

Plan Approval

The NDIS will create your plan based on your planning meeting. Your plan will outline your goals and the funding allocated to help you achieve them.

Common NDIS Questions

How long does it take to get approved for the NDIS?

The NDIS aims to make an access decision within 21 days of receiving all required information. However, complex cases may take longer.

What if my NDIS application is rejected?

You have the right to request a review of the decision. We can help you understand the reasons for rejection and support you through the review process.

Can I choose my own service providers?

Yes! You have choice and control over who provides your supports. We can help you find providers that are the right fit for you.

How much does Support Coordination cost?

Support Coordination is funded under the Capacity Building - Support Coordination budget in your NDIS plan. If you have this funding, there's no out-of-pocket cost to you.

What happens if I run out of NDIS funding?

We monitor your budget to prevent this. If you're at risk, we can help you prioritize supports and request a plan review if your needs have changed.

Can my plan change during the year?

Yes, if your circumstances or needs change significantly, you can request a plan review at any time. We can help you navigate this process.
